2K Films was founded by George Kalomenopoulos and very soon gained a reputation as a production company for high-quality films, made by devoted directors who share the company’s credo, which is to produce movies of global interest for a broad audience, framed within the original and inquisitive viewpoint of their creator and related to the cultural diversity and the challenges of the contemporary world.
2K collaborated with many acclaimed international partners, among them ARTE, ARD, Channel News Asia, ERT, ZDF, TVNZ, Movie the art of Entertainment GmbH, UFA, TAGLICHT Media, Telefilm Saar, WDR, PANTALEON Films, EBU, Production&Co and many more.
George Kalomenopoulos has also attended several festivals, conferences, and summits, amongst others as a participant at the Annual Meetings of the EBU Fiction Executives in Venice and Lucerne.
Among many festivals around the world, he also participated in all Sunny Side of the Doc /Asian Side of the Doc editions, mostly as a partner, (as Expert/Consultant in 2013 &2014, in La Rochelle, France, as evaluator /advisor 2015, in Xiamen, China and as moderator in 2016 and 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand), and as
Jury Member at Buzzau International Film Festival/ Buzzau, Romania 2016-2018 and at Golden Tree International Film Festival /Frankfurt, Germany.
He is a member of the European Expert’s Delegation at the International Documentary Festival, GZDOC, in Guangzhou, China and he has been certified by EACEA in 2009 for the Media Program of the European Union as a Media Expert. Since 2012 he is also an Expert/evaluator for the European Commission Programs Europe Culture and Europe for Citizens. George Kalomenopoulos conceived, organized and is directing DOCROADS,
a project-driven training initiative for creative documentary consisting of seminars and workshops. DOCROADS was successfully held for the first time in Guangzhou within GZDOC 2013 and was enthusiastically adopted by all participants from major Chinese Broadcasters such as CCTV 9, CCTV 10 and GDTV. Ever since Docroads is being held on an annual basis at the Guangzhou International Documentary Festival.
Docroads 1 European Edition has held in September 2016 in Tinos/Greece, in cooperation with the University of the Aegean.
